This story angers me...Be safe everyone!

YORK, S.C. -- York County deputies said that a 56-year-old man working at the "Trail of Terror" near Highway 901 was shot during a robbery.

Deputies said a masked man shot ticket collector James Douglas Rockholt late Saturday night and took about $1,500.

Attraction volunteer Kristy Sims said people ran when the robber opened fire near the entrance.

Rockholt was treated at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C., for a gunshot wound to the arm.

Volunteers said they plan to keep the trail open to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network. Some money will also go for Rockholt's medical costs.

More security guards were added to the haunted trail.

Before this gets into something political about the economy and past/present presidents, let me just say that this is very sad.  I hope the gentleman is okay, and that they a**hole that shot him gets what's coming to him.  So someone's like is worth less than $1500 to you?  You deserve to rot...

I know there is not a ton of security at most haunted attractions, so it is scary and unsettling to know that someone could easily bring a gun into a haunted attraction, it is just another one of those things that is going to make people afraid and make people worry about going out to haunted attraction. I just hope because of one bonehead people don't think twice about going to a haunted attraction, because if that is the case then the bonehead wins.

Also people get robbed in a Wal-mart parking lot but they don't stop coming to wal-mart. You can be robbed anywhere. I agree with you don't let the bonehead win....

Exactly right.  You can get robbed and/or shot anywhere.  Unfortunately, a haunt is no different.  Just use your brain when you're out and about people, and be careful!

Haunts seem like a bad choice for robbery since so many have uniformed off duty law officers as security. I wonder, though, if the high cash intakes (esp with so many haunts not utilizing CCs) make them more targetable.

Regardless, best wishes to Mr. Rockholt for a speedy recovery and that they catch the perp. and prosecute him to the fullest extent.
