I was an actor at Scarowinds for 7 years.  If you can afford a season pass (about $70) you get unlimited trips to  the park plus unlimited trips to Scarowinds.  Even though I no longer work there, that's worth the cost, especially since they charge $10 to park. (I don't know if that's still true).

Call their promotions department.  It used to be Danni Swords but she no longer works there.  I doubt you 'll get far as they have to go through corporate but good luck...

I went to scarowinds last night, and i wont actually do a review, but i will say that it was better than i expected. Reading some things on here, i expected it to be boring, and it never was. I will admit, i do have a season pass. I might have been a little disappointed if i had paid 40 something dollars, but it was fun. This was the first year i wasn't let down by the haunted houses and in some cases, such as Camp Killauee, i was impressed. I can go through a whole 45 minute haunted trail (not mentioning any names) and get startled maybe once, but here in like 5 or 10 minutes, i got scared 1,2 maybe eveen 3 times. I think you have to give their actors a LOT of credit. I was in groups no less than 10, and as big as 20 in the asylum. Before i entered the asylum i was thinking to myself "really, this is ridiculous" but it wasn't that bad at all.
Also on a side note, it was EXTREMELY crowded. I have been to carowinds maybe 4 or 5 times this year, and never seen it this crowded. The lines for the rides were ridiculous. I would say some rides, (the cobra, intimidator, ESPECIALLY nighthawk), could have had a 2 hour wait, maybe even 3. I've never seen those lines so long. Yet, at the same time, the lines for the haunted houses were VERY long too. They do move fast though.
So overall i would say go at your own discretion knowing that it will be very very crowded. Season pass holders also have their own parking, so as we were driving by the regular parking lot, people were completely stopped. I have NO idea how long they would be in that traffic. It was a good time though.
