Yep, but they cut back on advertising, like so many others.

Sean and I will be attending Scarowinds at some point/points this season.  The crowds can be unbearable at times but after about 11 it gets so much better even though then you're only left with an hour.  Also last year we went on the Thursday night they were open during Halloween weekend and it was totally awesome!  No crowds at all.  I believe they are open this year on Thursday the 29th also.  If you can work it out that would be my advice.  We have Season Passes so we'll probably be there several times.

Scarowinds is a great attraction, like I have said in the past, the whole park is transformed, so if you have not experienced Scarowinds, you need to! This season is the 10TH year, so they are going all out! I have gone to Scarowinds every season but last season, So I have been 8 years in a row.

My whole family has season passes. We always go at least twice. And we never fail to carry along a couple of friends. It is SUPERRBLY crowded on Halloween night, we tried that last year, and the night before and basicly the weekend before. We always go earlier on in the season. When you go then, it is NOT crowded.basicly deserted at some points.

Any of you interested Scarowinds is doing a Blood Drive on 10/9 from 4:00 - 8:30.  All presenting donors receive 1 free admission for Scarowinds valid from 10/9/09 thru 10/25/09 ONLY.  It also says all donors will be entered into a drawing for a pair of Delta Airline tix.  So if you're looking for a way to stretch your haunt $$$ here you go.  I haven't seen this advertised on the Scarowinds site but knew they had done it in the past so emailed to ask and was sent the info.  Give a little, get a lot here people.

It's a great idea!

Except for the fact that they STICK A HUGE NEEDLE IN YOUR ARM AND SUCK YOUR BLOOD OUT!!!!!

Sorry, I have a major thing against needles...  Can I just bring some canned food like the fair?

Blood drive is usually in the Pladium type area right by the front entrance.  They bring in 4 - 5 of the Blood Mobiles and go at it.  In the past if you have showed up and just tried to donate you still get the free ticket.  Even if they turn you down for blood pressure, iron, etc.  All in all it's a pretty sweet deal.  My husband and I will go just so Sean can have free tix to take along a couple of friends one night.

We went tonight and the rain closed the outdoor scare zones but the indoor ones definitely had more workers and better layouts this year.  This year's show in the theater is new and different from last year.  We were not sure we were going to enjoy it but they worked it out really well.  All song and dance no real story to it this year.  It was a nice way to start the season.
