So I've killed two spiders in my apartment this week, and that got me thinking.
What are some of the common phobias/fears that everyone has on here? What makes you shiver?
I do not like insects. Snakes and spiders are better off dead in my book.
When I was little it was clowns, but I guess I grew out of that one. Although haunts that have clowns in them are always great!
What about you guys & gals?

How about slugs? Maybe I don't fear them as much as I think they're really gross. They crawl all over and into my dogs water bowls and I hate having to get anywhere near them. ewww. I also hate spiders, but love taking pictures of them. I'm really afraid one day though one is going to jump on me. There was a nasty spider in my feed bucket the other day and it jumped about 2 1/2 feet to get away from me, (at least it wasn't towards me.)

Those slugs are awful though. It was night of the living slug not too long ago. I counted 10...thats all I could see and they were just so gross. I am 'fear'ful of them!!!! I am afraid of heights. I get shaky and can have a panic attack.

General, everyday, run of the mill fear...for me...walking around in the dark. Doesn't matter where: could be in my own house, outside, in a parking lot, wherever, even w/ a flashlight. I have seen too many horror movies, I am too paranoid of a person - don't put me in the dark alone, there are just too many unexpected possibilities out there. Or I might say, my mind runs in too many directions.

nctrembleyo613....You just made me think of something...How so many people fear the unknown, including myself...even in everyday situations.

Who doesn't fear the unknown to some degree?
Me, I love the dark. Inside, outside, doesn't matter. And heights?! Yes please! To me it's almost a rush, the feeling you get in the dark, thinking what might be there. Or way u in the air, thinking about what could happen. That's why I love haunted houses. Even if I know what's coming, it's just that heart-pounding rush of fear!
Yeah, I'm not a big fan of snakes or spiders, but I can't say I'm afraid of them. They're just...unappealing. Like slugs.

I'm kind of an adrenaline junkie so i dont have many but my number one fear is drowning. I love water but that just seems extremely painful. Also deep water where i couldnt see what was under me is unnerving too.

I'm not a fan of the dark when I'm sleeping. I can't sleep with a door open or a closet open. I don't like the idea of someone standing in the dark and me not being able to see them. I also can't sleep, or I don't like to sleep in beds that have both sides open. I sleep in beds that have one side next to a wall.
Darkness in haunted houses however I really like. For me, its the when and where that matter.

ditto, ditto, ditto, and ditto some more to everything you just said. we share a common bond.
i love haunted houses and being scared when I am in those moments, but thinking about it before hand, and imagining real life (non-entertaining) situations in the dark gives me more than goosebumps.
i used to be an adrenaline junkie, but i have really mellowed out, you probably couldn't get me to bungie jump anymore, i have entered the "what-if" phase of my existence I suppose...but I still get hyped up about HALLOWEEN, i'll never grow out of that.

Real fears..... hmmmmmm....... hieghts. The other fear I have is, a spider waking me up, running across my face or arms in the middle of the night. Over all, insects, snakes, spiders or slugs dont freak me out as long as I can see them.

Have you seen these Camel spiders - the pic is of two camel spiders, the lower one is using its pinchers to bite the body of the other one typically found in the middle eastern countries, but also in the west/southwestern US interesting facts - *some are very aggressive (they don't back down from humans) and can run up to 10mph - they like shade and they will run to your shadow to escape the sun http://www.camelspiders.net/camel-spider-cont-2.htm <-- great site for reading creepy stories from people who have encountered the camel spiders www.methodshop.com/picts/bigbugs/index.shtml <--- biggest bugs on earth - ewww

That picture is actually an extreme exaggeration. Camel spiders don't actually get that large, they just used the angle of the camera to make them look bigger. Don't get me wrong, they are creepy as hell, though.
Did you know that you will eat, on average, 7 spiders in your lifetime?

did you read the stories on the page? i'm not saying you can believe everything that people say, but some people say that with legs span they can get to 8-10 inches i read that most are in that 3-5 in range i know i don't want to get anywhere near any of them - look at the pics of the bites they can leave
