A few of us decided to take a break from The Slaughter House "tare down" today & went to see saw 3d. I like the saw movies for a couple of reasons, but mainly because it's ability to make me kind of "squirm"
in my seat while watching.
Anyone who has read a few of my post know I'm a huge horror movie fan, & I like the new "trend" of making the movies in 3d.
I realize this isn't the first rodeo for this concept, but I think it's utilized better with the digital film work of today.
What do you guys think? Like or Dislike?
Do you feel it's just a way for the movie industry to beat us up for a few more bucks, or do you think it's worth the added cost?

I've only seen two recent horror films in 3D-  remakes of My Bloody Valentine and Piranha.  I really don't think it adds a huge amount to the movie going experience.  Aja seemed to flaunt this "Look what I can do!" attitude with his offering.  I think it's just another passing fad and a way to gouge movie-goers of another 3-5 bucks.

That being said, this version of 3D technology is so much more palatable than old school 3d which was just wretched.

I don't personally feel I gain any benefit from having a movie in "3-D".  Now, there are 2 different versions of 3-D.  First, you can film a movie conventionally and convert it to 3-D, or you can fully film the movie in 3-D.  The second is much better for the full effect.  But to me, it's just a way for production companies to make more money.  The claim Avatar is the highest grossing movie ever, but think about how much it cost to make!  It's ridiculous!!!

The newest iteration of the "Saw" franchise wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either.  After the first one, it really lost a lot of it's shock-factor.  It was definitely squirm-inducing (one portion where the main player was locating the 4-digit code for the door, for example), but not really all the scary to me.  Gory isn't really scary to me, it's...well...gory!

Yea, you can defiantly tell the movies that are shot for 3d, don't get me wrong I'm not saying this is the greatest thing in cinema history, but in this fast pace world we live in where there are almost no "video stores" & every thing is going online or straight to your personal device I think it's good for the industry. I personally know people that think it's only a matter of time before they are extinct.
In my mind it's not so much the "3D " stuff coming off the screen at you, but more so the backgrounds, & foregrounds that make the experience better.
I feel in the future it will be like "HD t.v." where everything is that way & when you see something that is not, you will feel like there is a bad connection or something is wrong.
Just my opinion.
