Acherontia atropos

« on: September 02, 2011, 09:20:45 PM »

One day this week, the weather gave us a small small taste of fall.  It was a cool, breezy day, letting us know that fall is just around the corner, leaving these triple digit days behind us finally!  It was a great day to be outside and I wanted so bad to look up and see leaves changing colors and just know the temp would drop after sundown enough to need a hoodie.  One day like this kicks my excitement up in high gear over October and Halloween and Fairs and Football and COOOOOOOLLLLLLL temps.  I am so ready!!!!  What about you all?HuhHuhHuh

The way I know it's almost time...........college football.  Car's packed and ready to go.  Of course 91 forecasted tomorrow....where's that weather you were talking about?

I have noticed the slightest crispness to the air in the early mornings....getting closer!

Supposed to be down in the 70's by Tuesday, and I'm good with that.  I don't want fall to come TOO fast, otherwise it will be here and gone in the blink of an eye.  The anticipation is good enough for me for now.  We all know what's coming....

I'm Slappy but I work outside so I'm deffinately ready for some cooler weather. Nothing like feeling like you've sweat off about 10 lbs after a days work.

I know what you mean krb, I work outside a lot, too, so I'm definitely ready for some cooler weather.  But the leaves changing can hold off a little bit.  That's one of my favorite things, hopefully this year I'll get to enjoy it a little more.

I CAN NOT wait till the leaves start turning and some start falling and the sky is a deep blue...and sitting in the upper 50's low 60's.

Reminds me of the orginal Halloween...every time.

I think these cooler, rainy days are a sign of whats to come.  I just hope it gets the rain out of it's system before the haunt season begins!

I completely agree! It even had the October smell to it. I was working on some things for my costume at Midway myself.

I actually smelled a wood fire last night by my house.  So I think tonight I might be making my own.  Have a nice cigar, maybe some scotch or rum (or a pumpkin ale), and just...relax...

Can't wait for chicken stew!! My mom volunteers at Horne Creek Farm (in Pinnacle) and they have a corn shucking event every October. She's been making their chicken stew for at least 15 years now. She makes the best!
