Great idea Karma. So why don't we start?

I'm Slappy, and I'm an alcoholic.  Oops, wrong forum.  I'm Slappy, I'm a moderator in "The Haunted" section, and I'm a Halloween addict (and it's contagious, just ask ~honey~)!  Oh, and I live in Winston.

Hey there I'm Hearsegal81 I couldn't figure out a cool enough halloweeny name lol so I figured I own a hearse so why not lol, anyways my real name is crystal, I'm a halloween freak as well. My parents think I'm a little kooky and morbid but ever since I started volunteering to work in haunted attractions it's become my favorite holiday! I have my halloween crafts I do every year, and decorations. I have a entire halloween village display of craft houses that I make every year. I also make cute little kitty bell necklaces and little clay pot ghouls, ghosts, and goblins... ummm but my main thing is our haunted house we do every year, and I love going to other haunts as well, if any of the big featured haunts were near me I would definately put in to work them I have so much fun scaring people every year!

I also live in a small town called Burkeville VA, it's between Farmville and Petersburg on Rt. 460, if ya blink you'll miss it we don't even have a stoplight yep that small, but on the other hand I'm only an hour away from Richmond VA which is where most of all the Haunts take place so that's nice lol.

Let me also just say that I LOVE NC, I went to school in Elizabeth City and we vacation almost every year at Lake Gaston near Littleton NC, I would love to move down there, it's a very beautiful state and ya'll are so lucky! I guess having lived in VA most my life ya get sick of it hehehe!

Hi, I'm ~honey~, and I too was dragged into Halloween at a young age.  I only recently started going to the events in NC, thanks to Slappy, and I've been loving it.  I hope to go into media production/promotion after I graduate, and helping to spread the word for NCHaunts has been very helpful!  I'm from the Chapel Hill/Durham area.   8)

Nice 3.  I loved my Speed3, but it just didn't have the room I wanted, and I like having AWD or 4WD with my hobbies.  I've been through a few cars, here's a pic of a recent few...

Post by: glorialuvsya on September 27, 2008, 12:06:36 PM
Hi everyone my name is Gloria. I am so happy I found this site. I have already learned so much and pretty much know the places I will hit this year. Everyone has been so nice on this site. Thank you!

This is my first Hallween in NC and I can already tell I will not be disapointed. When I started getting the e-mails from the haunts in Michigan I was sad. I started searching for what else is around here other that the Hollywood Horror Show which I live right by. I found this site and know it was meant to be.

October has always been my favorite month. My birthday is the 24th and I always asked to go to haunted houses for my birthday. Then I got married on the 18th, so you know what we do for our anniversary as well. lol My kids are getting older now and want to go. You are so right Halloween excitement is contagious! Through this site I have been able to find which ones I feel comfortable taking them too.

It also is great to meet new people around the area because I still know almost no one.

Post by: Julie on September 28, 2008, 12:34:21 AM
Hi all...I thought I had posted, but I don't see anything. Maybe I can make this one a bit shorter, anyway!

I'm Julie, here in Greensboro, and I've been a Halloween fan for many years. My husband Gary and I decorate our garage every year, and hand out candy in costume for those who dare to enter.  ;D

I got back from Spookywoods a couple of hours ago and had a blast there, met the owner Tony and his costume and prop maker John....it's great going early in the season, you have more time to check out the costumes and props (and steal ideas for home decoration!)

This site is great...lots of information and very friendly folks. I look forward to the reviews to see what sites I need to add to my list of places to go this year.

Nice to hear from some car freaks too. My fiance and  I are also into the car scene. We both have mustangs and are members of the MOB other words mustangs of burlington. The MOB is supposed be heading out to Spooky Woods as a group and can't wait.

Title: Re: New Members Welcome Area
Post by: Slappy on September 28, 2008, 08:27:51 PM
I know the Mustangs of Burlington.  I probably would have joined them when I had my 'Stang, had it not been at least an hour drive away.  Unfortunately, at the time, I just didn't have the time to do it.  But it's great to hear from some new people, and more are always welcome.  And don't forget to stick around all year, even after Halloween.  There's always something to talk about.

Title: Re: New Members Welcome Area
Post by: MickeyMayhem on September 29, 2008, 05:02:42 AM
Well though I have had a mustang for four years I am a new member to the club. We joined a couple of months ago. But maybe I will see you at the show next year. I am not too big on imports but its always nice to see someone take pride in their car and give it the kind of love it deserves. In my case I don't have kids or pets so our cars are our babies.

Hey all. Name's Nicole. From the Sanford NC area.  Hubby & I have 2 cats, 1 dog, 2 children...aquired them in that order.  Found nchaunts.com in 2004 or 2005 and finally decided to join this forum.

Halloween is my family's Christmas.  We get all excited and ramp up to celebrate/participate beginning in September (most years) but have had to take a step back from the action to birth two babies in two years.  Girl in Sept 2007, Boy in Sept 2008.  They are 11 months and 3 weeks apart.  You just about can't grow 'em any closer than that!!!

One day, we will have our own haunted house, we like to return the favor of being scared.  We are hard core thrill seekers, the bloodier the better.  Neither me nor my husband have experienced a personal limit to the gore we can tolerate...why are we so de-sensitized?

My guess (for me) is because I have been addicted to Halloween and the sort since age 7.  A huge gorilla hiding out in an innocent looking "candy tent" lunged out and grabbed me on Halloween night 1987 in GA, I forefitted all my candy to his driveway and ran for my dear life, wouln't even go back and get it either, I have been addicted to the thrill ever since.  Nothing has topped that first feeling ever again, apparently I'm still searching.

Welcome welcome welcome!  I'm so excited that people are posting and introducing themselves!  It's great to get into your minds and learn a little bit about what got you excited about the season.  And I'm sure our haunt owners would LOVE to know what really scares us, lol.

So, in order, hello to M, Gloria, Julie, Mickey, and Nicole, and welcome to the best haunted site around.  I look forward to maybe meeting some of you in person!

 :D

Hey everyone!

My name is Karen, I just joined frightseekers, and I am very excited about it! I live in Millingport, NC, which is in Stanly county. I am married with 2 sons, and I am a registered technician for a pharmacuetical compounding center. I am glad to find other people with the same interests as me. Most people my age think of me as a big kid, because I love Halloween and scary things so much. I LOVE a good horror movie, I am completley ENTHRALLED with haunted houses! Halloweeen is my favorite holiday, I love to decorate and celebrate to the fullest. I guess I am just addicted to the adrenaline rush of it all.  ;D I wish I had known about this site sooner. I discovered it while looking up information on the "Get Lost Terror Corn Maze" which is basically in my back yard. I saw a link to find more haunted attractions for the area, and found you guys! If anyone has any info on more haunts around Stanly County, please let me know. I know the basic ones, like "The Haunted Schoolhouse", "The Shriners Club Haunted Trail, "The Haunted Barn", "Get Lost Terror Corn Maze", and "Reed's Goldmine's "Bloody Reign of the Mad Miner". THANKS!!!!!

Ok so since I have been called out here I am.

Hi! My name is Nicole. I am KarmaKrazy13's girlfriend. I was introduced to the site by him, slappy, and honey. I have had the pleasure of attending 7 different haunts in the past 2 weekends. I am in the process of writing my reviews so just hang in there with me as there are not enough hours in my day to get everything done that must be done in my life.  I am currently working toward applying for the nursing program at Queens University. I will be applying before December and will know something by March. Wish me luck and keep your fingers crossed for me. I have met some really great Frightseekers so far, Slappy, Honey, Handfullofrubies, and radian red. They are all really great people and hopefully I have made some longtime friends out of this. Nice to meet everyone!

Title: Re: New Members Welcome Area
Post by: rita on October 22, 2008, 02:19:54 AM
Sorry it's taken me a while to do this, but ~

I'm Rita.  I have 4 fog machines, 2 strobe lights, and overall more Halloween stuff than every other "holiday" put together.  I love scaring the juice out of pretty much anyone I can.  Love having costume parties, or randomly dressing up AT a party.  (Nothing confuses party guests like seeing the hostess dressed as a nun and smacking them with a ruler whenever they reach for a drink).  I have about a dozen robes on hand in case I feel like forcing everyone into a robe party for no good reason.  Favorite Halloween costumes include Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head costumes (complete with a removable mustache), a can of Spam and a jar of CheezWhiz, and of course, the Puberty Fairy.  I have two amazing kids with whom I've shared the joy of Halloween.  They love a good haunt as much as I do!

I believe that fun-sized treats are only fun if you eat enough to equal a full-size candy bar.  (Snickers really satisfy -- unless they're fun size, then they only taunt you with deliciousness.).  And I believe that having a willing suspension of disbelief makes going to a haunt a TON more fun!  I have no idea why so many people waste time being negative and unhappy.  Life is not a dress rehearsal -- go out and enjoy it!

I'm glad I found this forum -- it's been fun and informative.  I'm probably the oldest person on this thing... but it's alright with me!

Nice to meet you all!

Age is nothing but a number. Besides in years to come I will probably be the old one on here with the kiddies talking about what they are going to do this Halloween. Welcome to the site. It is a lot of fun.

Title: Re: New Members Welcome Area
Post by: Slappy on October 22, 2008, 08:20:01 AM
MickeyMayhem, you took the words right out of my...um...keyboard.  Age is a number, and you're only as old as you let yourself feel.  Let me tell you, when I'm in some of these haunts, I definitely forget my age.  I feel like I'm back in high school (or younger).  And rita, you're right.  Enjoy life, have fun!  To me, that is the raison d'etre.

Title: Re: New Members Welcome Area

Besides when you do get really old you can use that whole senility excuse and scare the crap out of kids and then say you didnt do it. Getting old has its advantages somewhere, hehe. When my mom turned 50 she got a motorcycle and her license, what does a little age mean.

Disrespectful victims....... tromp through during the dark hours on the earth that George died on......... Its like ripping out my heart again.....and i can't let that happen...... I will pursue anyone who dares desecrate that sacred ground......

I only ice skate during the month of October, the rest of the year I am as normal as u!

Which I think the frightseekers is the most normal bunch of characters I have ever met

Karma, you're comparing your normality to a bunch of people that thrive on horror and death, and that post about it on a public forum.  Normal you say?  I think not.

Hello - I am still learning my way around frightseekers so I am just now getting around to introducing myself.

I work at Castle of Horror. ( My brother's haunt) Growing up and living in the same house with him, I had no choice but to fall in love with Halloween.   My 10 year old son has already fell in love with Halloween so much that I literally had to make him go trick or treating the last two years he went, he wanted to be at Castle of Horror. This is his 4th Halloween being at Castle of Horror scaring people and could care less about being anywhere else. Halloween has definately become our passion.  Unfortunately I still have to work a fulltime job, that has nothing to do with Haloween but I guess it isn't too bad considering I work in an office all day for a local beer and wine vendor.
I want to say I really enjoy reading the posts on frightseekers everyday, and I am going to be sure that Castle of Horror is a featured haunt next year.

Happy Halloween

Hi, my name is Matt. I was introduced to this site by my cousin Karen "Neurotica" I have always been interested in 'knowing the unknown' and just recently started to ghost hunt with my friends. It's really exciting, and I hope to do more of it, if anyone knows of anywhere around Stanly County that we could investigate, let me know. My friends and I do have some equipment and we are getting more, but we have caught several things in pictures. If you want to know of places I've been to, just send me a message or whatever, I'll be glad to let you know.

Yo, Matt!  Welcome!

So, you do the ghost hunt, huh?  Do you enjoy haunted attractions, too -- or just the paranormal?

It seems that they are often connected - aside from the "back stories" that some haunts feature.  Take Mountain of Terror, for example.  The people who run the place - even the actors who worked the trail - reported some strange happenings.  Pretty cool.

You should talk to Mike at Mountain of Terror.  Do you have a MySpace?

~ Rita

I will be posting some stories and a link to all of the pictures I have taken, I have seen a few questionable things in them, so maybe y'all can help me decide what it is. Mountain of Terror is still under investigation by that exact same group (Winston-Salem Paranormal Society).  GREAT group of people by the way.  So far they have found evidence, just, nothing SOLID that would make them say "Yes, indeed" as of yet, but the investigation is on going, and there is a BIG investigation scheduled very soon.

I think it is pretty awesome we have a paranormal society around here, being that I have worked at the Horror Show and had my own experiences it was so awesome to finally hear Dean and Starr admit there is some freaky crap going on out there. The  WSPS is supposed to be back out to do some more investigating and I think I read somewhere they would be going back to Spooky Woods too. I think it would be really awesome to go out on an investigation like that. But I think the haunted houses should make it more public that the place is really haunted it would really drum up some business for the shows.

Hello everyone...i'm Michelle!! My fiance and I have been looking for more people like us (psycho, haunt-loving, scare-addicts) to go to haunted houses with. We plan on taking a break from scaring this year so that we can go to a lot of haunts.

I have worked for Scarowinds for 3 years and I have been working at Reed Gold Mine's haunt for the past 3. I love scaring the sh*t out of people...i find it is a great stress reliever!! I love doing special effects make-up...i plan on going to school for it soon!!

I hope you have a great time here, and have fun!   :D

Welcome skyttlez!  Yes, here you will find some of the most haunt, scare and fear addicts I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.  Glad to have you aboard, and I truly hope you get to experience a plethora of haunts this year (I myself have attended over 2 dozen in the last 2 seasons, along with honey, karmakrazy13 and wickedwitch).

On a side note, we may be revamping the review section this year, so if you would like to be a review, keep your eyes peeled for more information as the year progresses.

I never got around to the introductions.  These days I'm Tommy (wanna cookie?); in the past I've been the Ratcatcher.  I've been a regular at the Hacker House pretty much since the beginning.  Once a year I drive just over 350 miles to come play at The Greatest Show On Earth then when they get sick of me I turn around and drive the 350 miles home.  If you've ever met Tommy, you know what a feat that really is.

Hacker House is the best...yes, it is.  I'll be back this year.  Swing on by and say hi.

Well heck, I guess I should formally intro myself. I'm Ric, I Help out at the Midway wicked woods.  I also act ....like a fool ;)   Love me some horror of all kinds.  I actually have been browsing in here for awhile to see what makes you guys tick, so we know better ways to scare you at MIDWAY WICKED WOODS, that's Midway wicked woods.. spelled  M i d w a y  w i c k e d w o o d s (trying to shamelessly 2  plug Midway wicked woods  ;D )  But seriously, you guys are some of the best sources  of what makes fans of haunts , well fans of haunts....and it's a honor to be hanging out with you guys.  I actually got to see some of you guys come through, and we are seriously working/learning/ implementing better ways to give you the thrills and chills you want.

It's also an honor to be in here with a lot of haunters that as a kid I grew up getting scared by. Growing up, my older brother and his friends always talked about how scary the Hacker house  and I think Dr Evil in Charlotte???. (I mean  my brother is not That much older, but I didn't get brave enough to enjoy haunts until I was older )I grew up loving Spooky woods,  and have since enjoyed ALL of the featured and not featured haunts. Its seem that each and everyone offers something for everyone. So basically not only do i enjoy helping produce the scares I enjoy receiving too. Any who, didn't mean to write a boring ars book..

Ric

Midway, plug away, that's what we're here for.  I visited Midway in 07 and 08, and enjoyed it both times.  It's great to see that we're helping out haunts with this forum.  That was the idea behind it the whole time.  Keep people informed, share ideas, make some friends, and have a good time.  Don't be afraid to ask some opinions (as long as you can handle the response), and I'm sure the haunt lovers we have on here will be more than happy to help you out any way they can.  Good luck in this coming season, and be sure to keep us posted on any progress at the haunt.

I am Luke. I live in Danbury, the center point between Pilot Mountain, home of The Hacker House, and the Winston-Salem/Greensboro area, home to LOTS of haunts. Halloween is my favorite holiday, even over Christmas, exept for Jesus' birth. I live on a farm with ostriches, emus, goats, cows, mules, dogs, cats, etc. If someone were to count the number of Halloween decor i have, it would greatly exceed 1000 items. Here on my family's farm, we have held numerous non-profit haunted trails and are now starting to make our own animatronics. I love visiting haunted houses and trails of every kind to find inspiration for future all hallows eves and most importantly, the scare, which is halloweens main point!

Well, We called it The Haunted Farm. My uncle came up from Stokesdale to help us out every year. We basically had all of these wacky areas that "victims" usually do not participate in. For one example, we had a hole dug in the ground, and you had to climb down in it. In the hole was a GIANT barrel that went underground. You had to climb through the barrel and out the other side into another hole. You climbed out of the hole with a ladder and you were in a port-a-jon. We had a girl in the portajon throwing wet toilet paper on you as you climbed out, all while acting creepy. I guess you could say that some of the things in the haunt were meant to gross you out. Surprisingly we made good profit from the ole' thing, better than we expected.

Hey there everyone,

My name is Eddie, and I too am a fan of Halloween. I grew up with three older brothers, so I was treated to many years of Halloween treats, frights, and tricks. I love going to haunted attractions, and can't wait for this season's spooks!

Besides my obvious love of all things Halloween, i'm a full time student, an accounting major and Russian minor. I just spent the last three months in Russia interning with the USG. The Fall season is especially special to me because not only do I love Halloween, but i'm also a sports nut, and there is nothing like watching football on Sundays!

I discovered this site sometime last year with a friend of mine who went with me to some haunts last year. This is a wonderful reference site!

-Eddie

This is too exciting.  I can't explain how surprised I was to find a forum with people as excited about this month as I am...and NOT because the fair is in town.

I have loved haunted houses since I was 6 when Six Flags Great Adventure, in NJ, had their Haunted Mansion.  I don't remember anything else about the show except for the guy at the end telling me "I want to eat your brain" and my mom finding me on the other side of the amusement park.  That memory is so vivid, and I am always looking for that same adrenaline rush.

I joined this forum because my daughters and I are always looking for the best haunts around, and you all seem to know where they are.  I must thank everyone for their reviews because they have really helped me/us plan our month out rather nicely.

I am wondering if all of the haunts really are THAT good, or is no one willing to post anything negative that may help the haunters see something that's missing?  I'm just asking because I don't want to say anything that will be taken as offensive when I really just want to help.  I LOVE haunted houses and respect anyone who puts that much time, energy, and money into trying to scare me...too much fun!!!

Oh, there have been positive and negative reviews posted about pretty much every haunt on here.  It just so happens that most of the negative reviews were done with a severe lack of tact.  We all agree that fear is subjective, so not everyone will like every haunt.

Name's Badger and I own Rabid Badger Haunt Consulting www.rbconsulting.biz (http://www.rbconsulting.biz) which specializes in consultations, designing haunted houses, training actors, and doing voice work for radio/TV commercials.  I've been working with haunted houses for over 30 years and have been acting in large haunts for nearly 10.  Last year I worked with haunts in Charlotte, Greensboro, Wilmington, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Kansas City and Denver CO.   I was extremely fortunate to help design the "Ghost Ship" on the Battleship USS North Carolina which proved to be a smashing success.

In addition I  am a correspondent and 'Casket Crew' member for Rotting Flesh Radio www.rfrpodcast.com (http://www.rfrpodcast.com), the original haunt and horror industry podcast.  I've been lucky enough to interview actors, prop makers, bands, and many other people in this industry.  I also contribute a monthly segment called the Harbinger of Death which spotlights celebrity obituaries.

Lastly,  I run the Charlotte Zombie Walk www.myspace.com/charlottezombiewalk (http://www.myspace.com/charlottezombiewalk) which holds an annual blood drive and raises money for various charities.

Haven't been there, but I've heard about it.

I was from a bit north of Pittsburgh, and every year there were dozens of small haunted houses and haunted trails.  Now there's too much B.S. involved with haunt owning/haunt going.  Insurance, waivers, worker's comp, blah blah blah.  Everyone's so damn sue happy, it makes it hard to enjoy what we all love so much.  But that's why we're here, to show our support for those that go out there year after year, and keep doing it!

All of our featured haunts are well worth the drive.  Just make sure to plan ahead, and try not to hit the big haunts on the last couple of weekends if you're pressed for time, because I guarantee they will be packed.  We also have several non-featured haunts that are excellent.  Check out the reviews section, it will give you a good idea of what to expect from each haunt.  Keep an eye out for our Spring Haunt (I hope!).  And be sure to spread the word!

New members it is awesome you have signed up to be part of this awesome community, that is only step 1, now all you have to do is start posting, there are tons of great threads to post in, but if you are a little intimidated you can start here, tell us how you found the community, tell us about you, tell us why you like haunted houses, tell us why you love Halloween. We are excited to have you as a member of this awesome community. Welcome Frightseeker.

As a way of getting this thread rolling again, let's get people introducing and re-introducing themselves!

I'm Slappy, I currently work at Hacker House (so if you come there, be sure to look for me!)  I have been going to haunted houses for something like 30 years (no old comments!).  I am now a "Global Moderator" cause I don't take crap!   ;D  I eagerly anticipate my favorite holiday each and every year.  The cool weather, the colors, the smells, and the screams!  There's nothing better than Halloween!

I'm handfulofrubies82. Live near Pilot Mountain. I love Halloween, obviously. Other than going to haunted houses, my favorite thing is to decorate for Halloween. Going around to all the stores with decorations is one of my favorite things to do. (I hope Target gets all their stuff out soon.)

I am obsessed with Pumpkins. Radiant_red will attest to that. They make me beam with happiness. My goal one day is to have a huge patch. I have the place for it, I just can't seem to grow them well.

I love photography.  I hope you all participate in my photo scavenger hunt! It was fun to put together! I'm looking forward to meeting more frightseekers this year.

I'm a UNC tarheel fan. I'm excited that college football has started! Go Heels!
Yay, its fair time!! Our little county fairs are starting this week, and about a month until the Dixie Classic. Footlong corn dogs, funnel cakes, caramel apples, grilled corn, apple fritters..who doesn't go for the food??

Also looking forward to Gravediggers Ball in Charlotte. Cobra Starship is going to be there. Its going to be so much fun!!!

Laaaaaammmmmeeeeeeeeee, introductions are bor-ing!

Just kidding!  ;D

I'm honey, or that crazy blonde.  I keep Slappy in check  ;)

I'm a UNC-CH alumni (GO HEELS!) and a Steelers fan, and I get to work with animals all day at my job (grooming!)  I love being outdoors, and try to make a habit of mountain biking and camping when I can with Slappy.

I also work at Hacker House, and celebrate my favorite season (FALL!) every year with trips to the Farmers Market, RennFaire and Fest, the state and county fairs, and, OF COURSE, visiting haunts!  Nothing could be better than hot apple cider on a chilly night.   :)

I'm an avid reader, along with Slappy, so if anyone needs good recommendations for horror, sci-fi, or paranormal novels, just ask!!

I was not going to post here but now feel that I must so I can represent the largest and best university in our state.

I'm packbacker.  Lifelong NC resident- born in Winston-Salem and back to this "crazy" town.  I work in Davie County but my heart lies in Raleigh, NC.  Alumnus (multiple times!) of N.C. State University.  The only thing that can top my love of Halloween, haunted houses / spook trails, and the horror genre is the Wolfpack.  Football season ticket holder and will support my boys to hell (it's 20-30 miles west of Raleigh) and back.

I've done a bunch of long drives and stupid things to attend haunts....and I'm sure this year will be no exception.

I'll reprint this from about 18 months ago...

Name's Badger and I own Rabid Badger Haunt Consulting www.rabidbadger.biz which specializes in consultations, designing haunted houses, training actors, and doing voice work for radio/TV commercials.  I've been working with haunted houses for over 30 years and have been acting in large haunts for over 10.  Over the years I have worked with haunts from the Carolinas to California.

In addition I  am a correspondent and 'Casket Crew' member for Rotting Flesh Radio www.rfrpodcast.com, the original haunt and horror industry podcast.  I've been lucky enough to interview actors, prop makers, bands, and many other people in this industry.  I also contribute a monthly segment called the Harbinger of Death which spotlights celebrity obituaries.

Lastly,  I run the Charlotte Zombie Walk www.charlottezombiewalk.net which holds an annual food drive and raises money for various charities.

This is nctrembley0613, I love this forum.

October is my busiest and most chaotic month of the whole year, I aspire to run my own Haunted House one day, after winning the lottery of course LOL.  I love to visit the many variety of HH's NC has to offer, there is something here for every taste.  I am more hard core, scare-scare-scare you to death type of junkie, the more intense the better.  I am a total Halloween nerd, my husband gives me Halloween related gifts for birthday, Christmas, and Valentines Day, they are the best gifts ever.

My early attraction to all things Halloween began in the late 80's with a small but very gruesome Garbage Pail Kid collection, from then on, I was hooked on everything Horror (I even still have a few of those cards in my possession).  I love many forms of Horror flicks covering many decades, including the original Psycho, The Amityville Horror, Poltergeist, the original Child's Play and some of their squeals, The Silence of the Lambs, Wrong Turn, Cabin Fever, the most recent version of Dawn of the Dead, Paranormal Activity series...aahhh...I could talk about movies all night long, love them, and have undoubtedly left out some of my favorites in this list.

I have a very extensive personal collection of Halloween decorations/props/cool stuff collected over the last 6 or so years, we even acquired a shipping container for storage.  I believe in ghosts or afterlife energy and have a couple real life stories that directly involved me, truth is truth whether it is believed or not, there is a lot of speculation about the validity of "ghosts" and that is ok, I don't judge.

Looking forward to reading all of your posts and engaging in great conversations this season, let the reviews begin!!!

I'm an amateur photographer.... Music + photography= my life! I love going to concerts and traveling. My favorite band is Panic! At The Disco.

I'm beyond excited for this upcoming haunt season. We hope to get out to some new haunts this year that we haven't gotten to in my previous 3 seasons of being a frightseeker. We're trying to come up with a haunt schedule but October is looking crazy busy as usual. Trying to work in as many haunts and Carolina football games as possible. Can't wait to meet new frightseekers. I am really looking forward to our outing at Scarowinds this weekend.

With age comes the ability to spell "review"  or "a lot"  ;)   You also get to experience horror at all new levels with age- taxes, gray hair (or lack of hair altogether), middle age spread, mortgages, etc etc.  Actually I think a haunt should incorporate a "IRS room" or "Ravages of Age" scene.......that'd sure scare us older folks.

I kid, I kid....well about the spelling part :P

You know what's funny? I have been on this forum for a long time, and I have yet to introduce myself! My name is Nathan. I am a lover of Halloween, and everything that deals with it. I always say, "Halloween first, then Christmas." I am 17, I love working for different haunted houses. (As young as I am, I actually help teach acting for haunts and etc) Haunted house things has sorta passed down in my family, a lot of my family has owned, or acted or etc with haunts. (Just a little fun fact, My dad was a background character for Hellraiser)  I also do makeup. I'm currently working with Castle Of Horror, this year, with my new clown Rellik!  I know my name says "Pawn the Clown" That was my first clown I acted as, so he is my original. Doing Haunted House acting has inspired me to go into Acting as a career. I'm a fanatic for Haunted Houses, and love everything dealing with them!

Hey there I'm not new to the forums just decided to come back and see what's going on and what not, I think it's been about a year since I've been on here or maybe even more then that. The past year and a half has been so hectic, I found out in Jan of 2010 that my hubby and I were gonna have a lil one... a baby girl in fact. So from July '10 to the present I've been uber busy keeping up with lil miss emily. My name is Crystal, my husband adn I have been involved with a small haunt in Burkeville VA (about an hour southwest of Richmond) for the past 5 or 6 years. I have been involved with working in one since '98 where I used to volunteer at Scaremare in Lynchburg VA. Both Rocco (my hubby) and I love Halloween it's our favorite holiday! We love working in Haunted attractions and the current one we've been with is now call Burkeville Asylum. This year my character is a creepy old lady and I'm trying to go for the effect of the old creepy woman from the movie Insidious, she just really creeps me out! Anyways just wanted to say hello and that I'm glad to be back to talk to others who like halloween as much as I do. :)

There is something about the South that creates a unique experience compared to the West Coast.   The woods and chill at night must be it.

Title: Re: New Members Welcome Area

I think another reason is the south has a longer history than the west coast. Plus all the death from the civil war.

Hey there boils and ghouls! I aj AKA Goober the clown at the slaughterhouse horror experience, I was brought here by the love of the scare! lol I just love terrifying people and showing them a good time in any way I can. I've been with the slaughterhouse now for three years having only been goober for two. I started with a cheap little zombie mask from my local pharmacies halloween department... I wasn't satisfied at all. I had to have more realism in my act so I adopted foam latex prosthetic's as opposed to the pull over masks that offer no facial movement or expression of any kind, Also they muffle your voice... Who's scared of muffled voices? so goober was born! lol.

Even though I don't like to cook I found an interesting recipe for bacon zombies. Need 1 bacon zombie cleaned and prepped. boil with a little sugar to get rid of that gamey taste. remove from water and dipp in eggs then flour with seasonings of your choice then fry on high heat till crisp put tender. serve with rotten gabbage and moldy corn. for dessert serve twiinkes.
and that is how you prepare bacon zombies.
serve to your best enemies.

Hi, guys!

You all may remember me best on here as that other good doctor, Silas Hacker.  I see he hasn't been around in a while...possibly still locked up in the asylum somewhere.  Crafty as he is, you never know when he could break out again.  ;)

Anyhoo...hi, for those of you who are new and don't remember, I'm Larry!  I own and operate an upstart makeup effects business in NC called Grindhouse EFX.  I specialize in prosthetics, masks, props, et al.  You can check it out at http://grindhouseefx.tripod.com (http://grindhouseefx.tripod.com). it's not the flashiest site out there just yet, and I do apologize for those pesky pop-up ads you'll see...but it's just enough to outfit yourselves with some new grue just in time for Halloween!  Check it out and browse a while, when you get a chance.

It's nice to post on the board again - I've missed you guys!  Hope all's been well...I know we're all ready for the season to roll around!

I am very rough around the edges some say. I keep a small group of friends. As my license plate and the tattoo on my shoulder say IFI84UFU. Just the mere fact that I am posting on this site means that I have lurked here for at least 3 years before deciding to come out to meet some new blood. My family steers clear of me in Sept. and in Oct. because I am always on the hunt for the next scare. When you least expect it--expect it. Don't get me wrong if you are in my inner circle and the zombies attack I will protect you down to the last bullet and blade. Every time I speak in public my beautiful wife offers her apologies and says " You have to forgive him. He's a little morbid".

Hi! My name is Rachel. Some of you might remember me from The Conjuring trip, or seen me at a few haunts with Kinden.  Needless to say, he is the one that got my into going to haunts. I had been to a few before but could never really find anyone to go with, but now I love it!  Being a film student, I can really appreciate the sets and acting at a haunt, I know thats gotta take a ton of time and energy, not to mention creativity.

I've always loved Halloween, (especially since my bday is 2 days before).  Bloody, gory, demented stuff makes me feels all warm and fuzzy inside  ;D  The sight of severed limbs fills my heart with joy, and hearing someone scream in terror is music to my hears *sigh* so wonderful. Haunts are where my sweetest dreams come alive, I can't wait to go to some more.

I'm not really new, I'm returning old. After not having a computer for a couple years, I just got out if the forum scene. I loved this forum. I got on here everyday. This year I decided to make my way back on here and was glad to see I could still use my old login. Glad to be back on here.

I was a frequent person on this site but I don't get on like I use to, but I, trying to do more haunts this year and try some new locations. I've never been to Lake Hickory Haunts or Midway Wicked Woods so those are on my list to try this year. Haven't been to Hacker House in a while either so I'm hoping to make it back this year.

Welcome back MickeyMayhem!!!  Put Midway Wicked Woods and Hacker House at the top of your list!!  Hacker is always a must, but if you've never been to Midway you def need to check it out.  They have not disappointed me yet!!

I always see guests when I'm on here but rarely anyone active and posting. This site used to be very active. Would love to hear what people are new and what are your favorite Halloween traditions.

I'm just a musty old zombie who's been around here in a few different incarnations (one being Silas Hacker).  It feels good to be back on the board, and I'm excited to help it grow again!  Plus, being in great company always helps.  ;)

Welcome back Uncle Henry!  Those Hacker bodies always seem to manage to reincarnate when there is some scaring to be done!

Hi, screaming_diana!  I think I may have met you once or twice out in the old Hacker graveyard (however briefly), but it's very nice to connect here!   If I remember correctly, you were definitely the bravest member of your group!  ;)

Many thanks, packbacker!  It's very nice to be back...that old shallow grave gets a little boring this time of year.  Much more fun to get out and stir things up a little, especially on NCHaunts.  :)  Hoping my bride and I get to see some of you this year - I know we're planning to be out in NC to visit a few haunts for her birthday at some point next month.  Never had a chance to meet many of you without my "purty" face on!

Hey,
I'm MrBones. Not so much a new member (been on a few years), but never posted too much. Big Halloween fan. Go to haunted houses constantly when they are open and plan for Halloween pretty much all year long. My kids and I start talking costumes before spring even hits. I'm a big fan of horror movies and Halloween decorations. My favorite part of going to haunts is checking out all of the décor and costumes. Live in the Hickory, NC area.

Well, officially welcome to the message boards, Mr. Bones!  I hear you on planning all year long!

Hickory is a great spot to leave from for trails in the area.  We hit up the area at least twice a "season" to partake in area attractions!
