One of my many favorite haunt moments, happened at the now closed  Cry Cry Cry X-Treme Fear. Walking down the trail in the woods, there is a bright  light that distracts you , and you hear a chain, and all of a sudden there is a monster that is propelled right at you!  This was so unique to this place, haven't had a haunt be able to replicate the feeling from that type of "attack"

X-Treme Fear was a wonderful haunt...I so wish they'd make a big surprise return one of these days.  A lot of their scenes were incredibly unique (remember the outhouse?)!  I remember that monster you're talking about - it got me pretty good, too!

I remember the first year I went to spookywoods. There was a nightmare on elm street scene. You entered the room through a dark corridor. When you entered, the scene was a playground completely in black light. The swings and the spin around were moving in slow motion and the only noise was the slow chanting chorus of "one, two, Freddy's coming for you..." The visual was amazing. The only time in a haunt that actually felt dream-like in all of my years of haunts. You moved into a hall of lockers where you met with Freddy, but it was that dream-state playground that will forever live in my mind. it was outstanding.

Also, the Flatback experience at Boogerwoods is very cool. a one-of-a-kind experience. A very up close and personal encounter with Michael Myers with no where to run.   Wink

Those are awesome, MrBones!  The Flatback (and Boogerwoods in general) is something everyone should experience at least once in their lives.  There's just something about the blaring music, the feeling of helplessness, and three horror legends having you in their grasp that makes for a definite one-of-a-kind experience.  I hate that I missed that Elm Street scene - it sounds so cool, and I'm glad you got to experience that!  The first time I dragged my carcass to Spookywoods, they had started moving away from movie characters, save for the midway.  It was still incredibly cool, though - especially the subway and sewer sets.

I know we've all seen our share of amazing moments in a haunt, whether we've passed through them or worked in them.  A big scare, a good laugh, maybe even a good cry.  Wink  Everyone has that moment they talk about the next day!

So, this old zombie is curious...what's your favorite moment from your haunted travels through the years?  Regardless of whether you've got one to share or a bunch of 'em, let's share 'em!

Well, officially welcome to the message boards, Mr. Bones!  I hear you on planning all year long!

Hickory is a great spot to leave from for trails in the area.  We hit up the area at least twice a "season" to partake in area attractions!

Hey,
I'm MrBones. Not so much a new member (been on a few years), but never posted too much. Big Halloween fan. Go to haunted houses constantly when they are open and plan for Halloween pretty much all year long. My kids and I start talking costumes before spring even hits. I'm a big fan of horror movies and Halloween decorations. My favorite part of going to haunts is checking out all of the décor and costumes. Live in the Hickory, NC area.
