Frightseekers, I know you all enjoy Halloween in general, but, other than haunted houses, what kind of events would you like to see that this area doesn't offer? If you could just dream up any event, what would it be? I think a catered, halloween dinner event would be cool. Or a creepy/halloween themed art show/cocktail party would be fun.

Definitely a horror film festival would be awesome.  I'd also like an interactive Halloween-themed murder mystery. And I'd also be game for a fire-side ghost story marathon. I've got several books of ghost stories and local haunt lore.

Halloween themed Murder Mystery would be AWESOME!!!!!  This place in NC does MM at a Mansion.  I think it would be FUN.  http://www.bellacollinaevents.com/Murder_Mystery_Dinner.html  No Halloween Theme though...

This one is a private residence, opened up to commercial venues on select days...probably to fund them keeping it a private residence.  So, someone totally lives there & let's other rent it for weddings and things like the MM.  I bet it is huge.

I like the idea for horror film festival.  I do think that the mad monster party though kinda fills that gap though.  Murder Myster with a horror twist would be sweet.

I should point out that there is a fantastic horror film festival in Durham, NC.  The Carolina theater puts on the Nevermore Film Festival every February as well as has twice monthly screenings most of the year of double features (Retrofantasma series).  They do an amazing job and I saw some seminal films in that fashion.  Just wish there was something closer to the triad....

This is in Lenoir, NC and is a part of the Howlopalooza Halloween Festival. It's not exactly close to the triad, but this is the 2nd year of the festival and it seems to be really interesting.

The MM dinner has always intrigued me!  It sounds like that place would take suggestions for themes.  I also would love a film festival closer to Winston.  Or maybe a small theater (Aperture!) could do a B movie night in the middle of the week.  On one of their slow nights...I would love that.

Straight up Halloween might be a tough sell for the MM idea.  What could be fun is a convention or reunion of old horror/sci fi actors or icons.   Back for a party and somebody gotta get cut!!!

(I'm posting randomly today!!   New puppy wants to be outside, so here I sit lurking around the site!  Tis the season!)

I should tell some friends about that, i know a lot of people that like to do horror themed films. Does it have a website?

They have retrofantasma and some spin-offs which run generally every 2-4 weeks.  They also run a film festival called Nevermore in February which is often original, first-run stuff (with a few classics thrown in)
